When teachers are trained in the philosophy of abstinence-centered education and the specifics of how to teach the CTB curricula, the best results occur in the classroom. Read how CTB training inspired these educators:
- “I used to not believe teaching abstinence was a viable alternative, but after this training, I totally believe this is the way to educate kids! My own children and I will be having a very interesting discussion tonight.”
— Teacher, Houston County, GA - “I just wanted you to know that starting my 10th year here in Spring Branch this was the BEST in-service I have attended.
- “The two presenters from Choosing the Best LIFE on Abstinence were excellent. They hit every angle these kids need to know on abstinence and how to present it to them. Why is it important and why it will save their lives.
- “I went into this in-service thinking ‘yeah right abstinence it's not going to happen with these kids.’ Coming out this afternoon I now see a whole different side of presenting all this material to these students and where we can go with it and what choices they now have and how they just might save their lives.”
- — Maggie, Teacher, Spring Branch, TX
- “I was at the presentation you gave at Burke County last week and wanted to let you know how impressed I was. I was skeptical when I walked in the room, thinking that abstinence was too lofty a goal for our kids and that they might be better served by safe sex information. But I left with a completely different understanding of what we can do and how we can best reach our kids… I was informed, entertained, and moved. Thank you again”.
- — J. Boatwright, Teacher, Harlem High School, VA
CTB Teacher Training Certification
A full day is needed to certify teachers in Choosing the Best middle school programs: Choosing the Best LIFE, PATH, and WAY. A full day is also needed to certify teachers in the Choosing the Best High School program: Choosing the Best JOURNEY.
The goal of the Choosing the Best certification training is to ensure that teachers are both completely comfortable and highly effective when presenting the programs in the classroom. To achieve this goal, master trainers will educate teachers about abstinence-centered education, review all Choosing the Best materials, and provide teachers with “hands on” practice in presenting the materials. Each of the classroom exercises will be demonstrated to help the teachers become comfortable with the mechanics of these highly effective student interactions. Over 95% of trained teachers surveyed said that the training was beneficial and that they felt prepared to teach the material to their students.
